Education
Jessa graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology with a major in Marine Biology (cum laude) from Palawan State University in the Philippines through the NAGAO Natural Environmental Foundation scholarship. She also earned her Master of Philosophy degree from the Department of Geography at the University of Cambridge in the UK, supported by The Miriam Rothschild Scholarship in Conservation Leadership. She is currently a postgraduate student at the Department of Zoology (biological sciences) at the University of Cambridge and is funded by The Fishmongers' Company's Charitable Trust.
In 2022, she also became a Kinship Conservation Fellow. She is also a licensed Environmental Planner in the Philippines.
Affiliations
Jessa is co-founder of Centre for Sustainability PH, a youth and women-led conservation charity in the Philippines. In 2019, it was recognised as one of the Ten Accomplished Youth Organisations (TAYO) in the country for its work on nation-building with a focus on climate action. She is also a member of the IUCN Otter Specialist Group and a Climate Reality Leader.
Currently in the academic space, Jessa is a member of the Cambridge Philosophical Society and an associate fellow at the Royal Geographic Society.
